Live analytics and every website tool, in one private dashboard.
THE IDEA
The private dashboard behind this website: live visitors on a 3D globe, privacy-friendly analytics and every content tool in one place.
I built Personal Observatory to replace a handful of third-party tools. A rotating Earth shows who is on the site right now, and first-party analytics show where visitors come from, what they read and how long they stay, without cookie banners or fingerprinting.
The same dashboard is where I read postcards and project requests, publish notes and reorder my bio links, so running the site takes minutes, not tabs.

Visitor journeys and a real-time activity feed
Postcards and project requests with private notes

The admin dashboard
One private place to see who is visiting and to run the whole website. The screenshots use demo visitors and fictional messages.
Full-screen globeThe globe expands to fill the screen. Tap a visitor to see their source, current page, time on site and journey, or fly to them.
AnalyticsVisitors, page views, sessions and active time, a visitors-over-time chart, recent activity, top pages, sources and devices.
VisitorsEvery visitor gets a friendly alias, with location, device, source, latest page and whether they are new, returning or identified. Filter by site or country.
SitesEvery website I track in one place: who is on each site right now, visits this week and since the start, and the one-line tag that adds another site.
PostcardsMessages from the website’s postcard form, with unread, read and archived states and one-click replies.
Project requestsRequests from the Let’s build page as a compact list. Opening one shows the brief and details beside contact buttons, status and private notes.
NotesNotes as a searchable list with excerpts and dates. Each note opens in a pop-up editor with undo, image uploads compressed to WebP, a word count and a live preview.
QuotesToday’s ten quotes for the website, picked from a searchable catalogue that I can edit.
Bio linksOne compact list for the links page: drag to reorder, edit in place, hide a link or delete it after a confirmation.
Screenshots use demo data. Names, numbers and notes are fictional.
